GTA 6 Standard vs Ultimate Edition: Which one should you buy?
Standard Edition at €80 or Ultimate at €100? Here is everything confirmed in each edition — vehicles, weapons, cosmetics, businesses, and missions — to help you decide before pre-ordering.
The two editions: what Rockstar confirmed
When GTA 6 pre-orders opened on June 25, 2026, Rockstar confirmed exactly two editions: Standard Edition at €80 ($79.99) and Ultimate Edition at €100 ($99.99). Earlier leaks had suggested up to six purchase tiers — a Collector's Edition, Deluxe, Premium — but at launch Rockstar went with a straightforward two-tier structure. There is no physical collector's edition at launch.
Both editions are available on PlayStation Store and Microsoft Store for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Physical copies contain a game code. You can upgrade from Standard to Ultimate at any time after your initial purchase, so there is no penalty for starting with the lower tier if you are unsure.
What the Standard Edition includes (€80)
The Standard Edition costs €80 and includes the base game plus the Vintage Vice City pre-order pack for anyone who pre-orders before launch. The Vintage Vice City Pack contains: a '55 Vapid Stanier — a classic sedan with a built-in weapon locker and stash point — exclusive character outfits (Jason in a vintage pastel linen suit, Lucia in a red sequin mini dress), tropical-patterned weapon skins, and one free month of GTA+ for digital pre-orders.
The pre-order bonus vehicles and cosmetics from the Vintage Vice City Pack are exclusive to pre-orders. If you buy the Standard Edition after launch without pre-ordering, you will not receive the pack. Rockstar has not announced whether the pack will be available for purchase separately later.
What the Ultimate Edition adds (€100)
The Ultimate Edition costs €100 and includes everything in the Standard Edition plus a substantial set of exclusive content. On the vehicle side: a '95 Grotti Cheetah (classic supercar), a '67 Vapid Dominator Buggy, a Dinka Enduro motorcycle, a Shitzu Squalo boat, and a Crest Kayak. These are five vehicles across different categories — road, off-road, two-wheel, and water — which provides meaningful variety for early exploration before the in-game economy is established.
The Ultimate Edition also adds three custom weapons: the Hawk and Little Morgan Revolvers (a matched pair), the Girardi ES9 Custom Pistol, and the Klose K17 Custom Pistol. On the cosmetics side: the Vice City Style Pack (exclusive outfits and tattoos) and the Goodtime Gear Pack.
The most substantive additions are the five businesses and two exclusive missions. The businesses — a vehicle shop, a mod shop, a hair salon, a clothing store, and a tattoo parlor — represent early passive income sources that Standard Edition players will need to acquire through normal gameplay. The exclusive missions (PTT Youngin$ Illegal Goods Mission and Classic Car Collection Commission) add content not available in the Standard Edition.
Which edition should you buy?
The €20 price difference between Standard and Ultimate is roughly 25% more. Whether the Ultimate Edition justifies that premium depends primarily on how much you plan to engage with the game's economy and vehicle collection outside of the main story.
The five vehicles are the strongest argument for Ultimate. In GTA 6's early hours — before the in-game economy is established and before you have earned enough to buy property — having a supercar, an off-road vehicle, a motorcycle, a boat, and a kayak immediately available removes real friction. The '95 Grotti Cheetah in particular is the kind of vehicle that normally requires significant in-game investment to acquire.
The three custom weapons are less impactful. GTA 6's weapon system allows for trunk storage and active loadout management, but the starting pistols are quickly outclassed. The cosmetic packs are entirely subjective. The five businesses are genuinely valuable if passive income turns out to work similarly to GTA Online — but this is unconfirmed until launch.
Recommended approach: if you plan to play extensively and want to skip the early economic grind, the Ultimate Edition at €100 is worth it primarily for the vehicles and businesses. If you are a casual player or primarily interested in the story, the Standard Edition at €80 is the better value. Remember that you can upgrade after purchase if you change your mind.
