GTA 6 Release Date, Platforms and Everything Confirmed
GTA 6 launches November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Here is everything officially confirmed: platforms, preorder window, price range, trailers, and the PC situation.
November 19, 2026 — the confirmed launch date
GTA 6 is officially set to release on November 19, 2026. Rockstar Games confirmed this date via their Newswire, and Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick reiterated it at the company's Q4 FY2026 earnings call on May 21, 2026. In his own words: "Fiscal 2027 will establish new record levels of operating performance driven by the November 19th launch of Grand Theft Auto VI." Take-Two embedded the date into their official financial guidance of $8.0–8.2 billion in revenue for fiscal year 2027.
This date comes after the original window was pushed back. Zelnick acknowledged at the same earnings call that the title is approximately 18 months behind its original internal target, but stated explicitly that the game will not be delayed again. The date has also been treated as final by Sony, which has a confirmed promotional partnership with Take-Two for GTA 6.
PS5 and Xbox Series X/S — no last-gen, no PC at launch
GTA 6 launches exclusively on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. There is no PS4 or Xbox One version. Rockstar has not announced backward compatibility or cross-gen support. Both the PS5 standard edition and PS5 Pro will run GTA 6, with the Pro expected to offer enhanced resolution and frame rate performance thanks to its more powerful GPU.
No PC version is confirmed for launch. Rockstar has not publicly announced a PC release date. Based on historical release patterns — GTA V arrived on consoles in September 2013 and on PC in April 2015, a roughly 18-month gap; Red Dead Redemption 2 followed a similar pattern — industry analysts broadly expect a PC version in 2027 or 2028. GamingBible reported in May 2025 that the PC version "may not arrive until 2028" due to next-generation console versions being prioritized first.
Trailer history: Trailer 3 expected June 25, 2026
Rockstar has released two official trailers to date. Trailer 1 dropped on December 5, 2023, breaking YouTube viewership records and introducing Lucia as the first confirmed protagonist, the Vice City setting, and the overall tone of the game. Trailer 2 followed on May 6, 2025, introducing Jason as the second protagonist alongside Lucia, naming multiple supporting characters, and revealing specific locations including the Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, and Ambrosia.
Trailer 3 is widely expected to launch on June 25, 2026, alongside preorders and the official cover art already revealed on June 18. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick described the Trailer 3 release as part of a coordinated marketing launch event. If it follows the same June 25 window as the preorder opening, it would mark the start of the full five-month marketing campaign into the November 19 launch. Rockstar has not officially confirmed the Trailer 3 date separately from the preorder announcement.
When preorders open and where
Rockstar officially confirmed on June 18, 2026 that preorders for GTA 6 open on June 25, 2026. The announcement was made alongside the reveal of the official game cover art. Preorders will be available for both PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, digital and physical, across all major retailers simultaneously.
When preorders go live on June 25, listings will appear on PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, Amazon, GameStop, Fnac, Micromania, and other major retailers. This site will update the preorder page with direct links to all retailers the moment they go live. If you are tracking this page before June 25, check back on that date — the retailer section will be populated in real time.
Price expectations: $70 to $80 range
No official retail price has been announced by Rockstar or Take-Two. Zelnick has implied in public comments that the standard edition will fall in the $70–80 range, consistent with the current AAA pricing standard. He has stated he does not believe in charging "more than the market will bear" while also pushing the industry toward the higher $70 baseline.
A leak published by GamingBible and Insider Gaming in May 2026 described up to six purchase tiers: Standard Edition, Deluxe, Premium, and a Collector's Edition reportedly priced between $150 and $300+. Analyst firm DFC Intelligence projects 40 million copies sold and approximately $3.2 billion in first-year earnings, including roughly $1 billion in preorders alone. None of the editions or exact prices are officially confirmed.
GTA Online and multiplayer
A multiplayer component is confirmed for GTA 6. Court documents reviewed by Kotaku revealed a detail that player sessions will support up to 32 players, up from GTA 5 Online's 30-player cap. An online launch is expected shortly after the single-player release — possibly December 2026 — following the same staggered approach Rockstar used for GTA V.
GTA 5's GTA Online will reportedly continue to receive updates even after GTA 6 launches, though a major summer 2026 update may mark its final significant content addition. No official announcement has been made about progress or currency transfer from GTA 5 Online to GTA 6's online mode.
